FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

I will try to list and answer the questions I have been getting about our upcoming trip....with my witty responses.

1) What should I pack? What should I wear? Suggested Dress?......Bangkok is in the tropics....Hot & Rainy....most of the time I wear shorts...however to gain access to most of the religious temples you must wear long pants. At night...it is hot...dress comfortably....and there will be days that we walk alot...YOU SHOULD BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!

2) Do I need shots? Should I take any precautions?.......I don't know if you need shots, I am not a doctor! It is an individual decision based on your health and risk factors. You should consult with your physician. I have been to Thailand (4) times and I have never gotten any shots (before or after the trip) and have not died yet.

The link below provides information from the CDC. This will scare the shit out of you!!!

3) Do I have to eat snakes or bugs?....Yes

4) What kind of food will I be eating? ....anything you want....there is McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, and Starbucks.....but I encourage everyone to avoid eating that crap for a week and try new things....Thai food is wonderful and you can get most of it cooked to order ....no spice...mild....hot.....and nuclear meltdown.

5) Is there Internet Connections?.....Yes....Bangkok is a modern city with EVERYTHING you can get in the states (and more). What about Electricity? Mostly Thailand uses 220v, however some hotels do provide 110v ...To be safe bring a power converter!

6) Should I bring my camera? Although Pete will be documenting the trip for his files....I strongly suggest you bring a camera in case there is a military coup or someone confesses to killing Jon Bennet Ramsey??

7) How do they treat tourists? Is there High Crime? Bangkok thrives on tourism....therefore crime against tourists is very low....The Thai people are the friendliest and POLITE people in the world...Thailand is known as "The Land of Smiles"

8) What about the Bird Flu?...Again the CDC has a wealth of information to review...I have provided a link.

9) Will I go crazy on the plane? Yes.

10) Any suggestions to fight the killer boredom and fatigue on the long flight? ....I suggest drinking plenty of water....wear loose fitting clothes....try to sleep as much as possible....bring a good book to read....it really isn't that bad.

11) Can I get Cigars? .....although many of the hotels have great Cuban Cigars, they are very expensive...if you smoke...bring them from home!

12) Will we go out drinking and getting crazy in Bangkok? Yes, I have also included a special bus excursion for a (2) day "road trip" to Pattaya.....AND WHO KNOWS, MAYBE THERE WILL BE A MILITARY COUP??

13) Can I get good prices on Jewelry and Gold? ....
YOU MUST NEGOTIATE ON EVERYTHING !!!! We will take a field trip to Chinatown and visit the Gold Shops....Yes, there are great deals on gold and Jewelry, but like any place...you should know fair pricing before you start negotiating.....Pete is the best at haggling....get tips from him on the plane ride.

14) What about Electricity??? It is 220v....you must use a power transformer or risk destroying the universal power system...causing destruction of the universe!!!
